In 2010 the Queensland Government is pushing the rollout of fluoride over smaller communities throughout Queensland. The state should be asking Gympie Regional Council “Do you want Fluoride?” NOT “How do you want it?”. It seems Anna Blighs “one shoe fits all” approach has become adrift from the democratic society we live in. It takes great courage and self respect to stand tall in voicing your word against these issues, especially when it is against all odds. “We hear you Jan Watt, thank you”. |

| Peter (Thursday, 4 February 2010 ) Thats as simple as it gets, thanks Jan. Even if you dont know anything about Fluoride, its easy to see that Forced Medication is morally wrong. | |
| Bill Kilvert (Thursday, 4 February 2010 ) Congratulations Jan - You are my hero. I would say that the majority of councillors around Queensland are opposed to mandated water fluoridation, judging by the reaction 2 years ago when all but two councils opposed water fluoridation. The two councils that did not outwardly oppose fluoridation wanted to have a referendum of the people in their areas. Now seems to be the right time for councillors who oppose mandated fluoridation to form an alliance to express their views. - I understand that they cannot openly defy the government, as the draconian legislation can slap big fines on councillors who disobey the government wishes. In Cairns we have seven councillors out of 10 who oppose mandated fluoridation, but they were forced to impliment it against their own wishes. | |
| jan (Friday, 5 February 2010 ) Greetings Appart from being totally opposed to enforced mass medication, I have understood the issues associated with flouridation for some time through research. Sometimes though in order to ger a message across, it is best to keep it simple. If one were to start listing all the issues associated with flouride one would be written off as a conspiracy theorists and be dismissed by sceptics. You are right that a lot of councillors are opposed and cannot do anything to stop the Governments actions, but speech is still free... Keep up the good work re spreading information. Regards Jan | |
| Ailsa Boyden (Tuesday, 9 February 2010 ) Bravo Jan I very much admire you for displaying the courage of your conviction. Mass medication is totally unacceptable. Do you know if other councils were asked to vote `for` fluoridation? If they were, one could assume that Premier Bligh is trying to spread the blame for fluoridation. | |
